In the Beginning

F.A.T.A.L 14

The Oakland University Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., was established in the spring of 1981. This was the Realization of a dream started more than 18 months earlier. A dream fulfilled through hard work and endurance.
On October 17, 1979, Alexander Simpson brought together a group of young men to form the "PRE-KAPPA Society". Dr. Manuel H. Pierson became its advisor and sponsor. When the fall semester of 1980 came around these young men were notified that they would be able to go through a pledge period before the end of the semester. The pledging was to take place at the Alpha Beta Chapter of Wayne State University.
On October 19th, a little over a year after the start of the "PRE-KAPPA Society", these young men were initiated into the SCROLLER CLUB. On December 24, 1980 14 men were initiated into the Fraternity. Ten of these men were from Oakland University and four were from Wayne State Unversity.
